Mighty, mighty

Aphrodite!!

She's lean, she's not mean, she's just so darn cute!

But don't let her sweet demeanor fool ya.  She'll rob you blind when you're not looking:

Then play all cutsie to get out of trouble:

She'll batt those big, blue cross-eyes at ya:

And snuggle up close for loves:

She may look all sweet and innocent:

But turn your back on Mighty, Mighty Aphrodite, and she'll pounce!

What?  Who, little ole me??

Yes, you, you cute little stinker!

Is that thunder I hear?

Why yes! Quite a storm is brewing. But that's because ZEUS, the god of thunder, is in the house!!

So, that begs a question...how do you photograph thunder?

Well, it takes lots of patience....

Lots of trial.....

Lots more error...

But eveutually....

You just might get lucky enough to catch him!

Ah hah!  Busted!!

Ok, so when he's still, he's not all that scary.

He's just a cute, happy-go-lucky kind of guy :)

Thanks for pausing for me, Zeus!

I've been remiss

...In my duties as foster parent.  It's been such a busy week, and I haven't been posting the photos you all deserve to see!

Well, I won't make you wait.  After all, these cutie pies won't be around for very long.  They've already hit the two pound mark, so it will be time to get them snipped and help them find their new, forever homes  quickly!

So, without further delay, I give you the first of the "Holy Trinity"!

The Goddess ATHENA!!!
Named after the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, Skill and War.
That's right, I said wisdom and war.
Yeah, baby!

Huskies and squeekies and kitties, oh my!

Well, as if adding two LARGE dogs to the family wasn't enough, we are now welcoming three adorable little foster kittens!  This wasn't planned, but these things do happen.  I walked into the foster department...and there they were....waiting...along with several other litters that need foster homes.  I'm leary bringing in kittens so soon after adopting dogs.  Not because I'm concerned for the dogs or the kittens...my new doggies are surprisingly well behaved.  But mostly because there has been a lot of change in the last few weeks, and I don't want my resident cats to get too upset.  They may try to kill me in my sleep.

So, without further ado...I present to you...

THE NEW FOSTER KITTIES!

The two darling girls

And their rascally brother...
Sorry, it's not the best picture of the boy, but it is the only one of the thirty I took of him that wasn't blurry.

Now, I just gotta come up with names...

The big weigh-in

It's official.  The whole gang is scheduled for surgry a week from Monday.  Elvis was top of the weight chain at just over two pounds.  The other two beebees were each one pound 15 ounces, so only one ounce away.  That means they have a week to put on another ounce (and the way these guys eat, that won't be a problem!).  Mama was on her best behavior, and had put on some much needed weight herself."I weigh HOW much??"

So, in honor of their surgery date, I present you with the video
"Solar-Powered Feisty Kittens"!

Growing like weeds!

Wow...I'm not sure what the city is adding to the water, but these little kitties are growing so fast!  Elvis, the biggest of the bunch hit the 2lb mark today, and the other two are just a few ounces behind!  They have their two-week check up on Saturday, so we may be discussing surgery dates already.

I'm, of course, happy they are doing so well considering they didn't seem to be eating much the first few days. But it's still kinda sad that I'll have these buggers such a short time.

In honor of their weight milestone, I will reward you all with a video of Ella playing with her favorite toy.

They have names!!

After much deliberation, and a quick phone call to my mom, we have decided on names!

First, I am pleased to introduce to you mama, Aretha!

She's a pretty little tabby girl, and a petite little thing too.  She definitely knows what she wants and doesn't mind letting you know!

Next is little Bo Diddley.  Weighing in at 1lb 5 oz, he's a sweet little boy who loves to cuddle and eat salmon flavored food.

This sweet little girl is Ella.  Quiet and reserved, but also just a bit nuts.  She loves straws and toys that rattle.

And last, but certianly not least, the biggest of the group is Elvis!  Cool and confident, but good luck getting him to hold still unless he's sleeping!

So there, you have it folks.   Three little beebies all on a blanket :)

Bye bye, Floofie-pies!

Mama, where are we going?

"To the shelter, sweet little Dee Dee"

Why do we have to go back there?

"Because we have to get you fixed up and ready for your new home"

Can't we just stay with you?

"I wish...but I would have hundreds of cats if I kept every one I wanted to, so I have to let you go so you can find your new forever home, just like your mom did"

Will it hurt?

"No, silly.  They are going to take good care of you"

The tweedle's are all set for surgery and will be available for adoption starting Tuesday August 9th!

Fun in the Sun!

Amazingly, last week, the sun did make an appearance!  The cats were all overjoyed, fighting over the best "sun spots" in the house.  The kittens on the other hand, were just enjoying a warmer playtime.

Two- week check-up

We loaded up the babies, threw them in the car, and took them to the Humane Society yesterday for their two-week weigh in.  The biggest one (Porche) weighed in at a whopping 15 ounces!!  The pictures dont always do justice to how tiny they are, but if you remember that is after two weeks of plumping time, you can imagine how tiny they were at first.

I credit their fat little bellies to my "full body feeding" technique:

Of course, it also helps when you just have happy kitties!

They've been introduced to the rest of the house. My cats aren't thrilled.  They just gave me the 'oh no, here we go again' look.  But they'll get over it.  Its so funny to see the itty bitty babies chasing around my big 12lb cats!

Oh, and Mercedes, with her cat food covered nose, wants to say "hi":

One Of These Things is Not Like the Other.

Study if you must.
Can you sopt the differences between these three kitties?

Yeah, neither can I :)

Now Introducing!

Its hard to believe it's already been a week since I brought these itsy bitsy kitties home!  For the first two days they wanted nothing to do with me really.  Now I can't keep them off of me!  I walk around the house with them on my shoulders like little parrots (with very sharp claws!). And once their motors started running, I knew there was nothing else I could name them.

So I am happy to introduce Porche, Bentley, and Mercedes!
They are, like most kittens, adapting well and growing oh-so-fast!  They have already graduated from their kitten gruel to big-kitty food (by their own choice).  Although, eating from a dish is still a bit challanging.  They much more prefer me to spoon feed them.  No, they aren't spoiled in the least!

When I get up in the morning, or come home from work, Mercedes is always on the top of their kitty-condo box yelling for me.  Then, when I open the door, she literally leaps at me.  She is one very social kitty.  No fear.

Porche is not far behind.  Ready to climb my leg at a moments notice.

Bentley is still a little shy, but he will come over to me now.  He doesn't like being picked up so much, but he does enjoy burying himself in my hair.

Sweeties- all of them

Got Milk?

The new beebees will eat on their own, but they only seem to do so when mama's in the room.  So, because we want them to grow up big, fat...er...I mean fast, and strong, they are being syringe-fed some "kitten gruel."  It's a wonderfully smelly combination of kitten formula and seafood flavored wet cat food.  Delish!  At least the kittens think so.  They're still working on their syringe sucking technique though, and so feeding is a particularly messy project.  Forget the milk moustache, these kitties are sporting the full milk beard!

Yum!  Time for a little post-feeding cleaning on the cat post!

And finally, wiggle it all together so you have a nice seafood milkshake!

It's raining cats!

Yes, kitten season is definitely here!  Mama brought home a batch from the humane society today.  Triplets!  Three little darling tabby babies!  The last kittens we had were already pretty big when we got them, so I had forgotten how small they can be.  And no mom, so we will have to give them a little extra love (like we wouldn't anyways!).  They're pretty shy.  One hissed at mom when she picked him up...mom tried not to laugh.  Have you ever seen a few week old kitten hiss?  Not the least bit scary.  But she also got one purring in her arms, so there may be hope for them yet!

Here are some preliminary pictures.  They dont have names...yet. I think there are two girls and a boy, but don't quote me on that!

The bravest girl (also the loudest!)

Told you she was a loudmouth!

Super-Bryce's Kryptonite

Bryce is such a sweet, affectionate, loving guy.  Mama's tried everything to ruffle his feathers, but no matter what you do, he just purrs contentedly away.  Until the catnip container came out.  She found his weakness!  One whiff of that stuff, and Bryce's wild-side came out!  For some reason I couldn't upload them straight to this page, so they are on YouTube.  The quality is not nearly as good, but I think you will still get the point.

Enjoy!

Part Two: Sparkle Ball Soccer

I know I promised y'all this yesterday, but blogging is harder than you think when you have no thumbs.  I think I got it all figured out now, though!

And he cooks too!

Who doesn't want a man who can cook??

Here's Bryce making biscuits on the spot he claimed as his...until he gets distracted by the neighbor's cat.

Tomorrow: Catnip!

Loverboy

So, Bryce spent the first night in our house.  I can hear him cry sometimes in the other room.  Mama says he's really a sweetheart.  Turns out he loves looking out the window and playing soccer with sparkle balls.

Some more pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Seriously, how could you not love this guy??
